As a member of one of our Technology teams, you will contribute to building solutions that use natural language processing, cognitive computing, and artificial intelligence applications or the frameworks and infrastructure that support them.

A Lead Inventive Scientist is responsible for technical leadership, breakthrough inventions, and business impact in conversational AI and machine learning technologies. They should demonstrate thought leadership in the broader research community through publications and IP generation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Research and develop state-of-the-art algorithms, models and tools in conversational AI and machine learning technologies

  • Leverage Interactions’ vast human-annotated speech and text databases to develop high-performance models and algorithms in conversational AI and translate them into commercial products

  • Implement new algorithms, format and process large text/audio databases, run experiments to measure performance, and support implementation of successful results into products

  • Responsible for making improvements to speech and language software and modeling methods, and to invent new methods to improve performance

  • Work cross-functionally, to identify a business problem, design technical solutions, demonstrate, and deliver business impact

  • Provide thought leadership to the Interactions team based on in-depth expertise in an area of conversational AI and machine learning through mentoring and advising colleagues

  • Demonstrate thought leadership in the broader research community through presentations and organizations of technical conferences, participate in technical committees, and serve an active role in shaping the field of conversational AI

Qualifications

Required

  • PhD in computer science, engineering, or closely related field and 10+ years of professional experience in the speech, language, and dialog processing industry

  • Deep knowledge and expertise in speech and language technology

  • Proven experience applying machine learning methods to speech, natural language, and/or dialog processing tasks

  • Excellent software background in Python and/or C/C++

  • Strong familiarity with Unix/Linux shell tools

  • Strong publication record in major international technical conferences and journals

  • Demonstrated ability and drive to take results from research experiments and incorporate them into impactful software products and tools

Preferred

  • Experience with TensorFlow and/or PyTorch machine learning frameworks.

  • Experience with data and compute infrastructure for machine learning at scale.
