Job Summary

We are seeking a linguistics consultant to provide expert guidance and support to our engineering team in the implementation of automated morphological, lexical, syntactic, and semantic analysis of Arabic in our pipeline. This person will play a key role in consulting on the verification and validation of our methodology for linguistic analysis to improve the quality and scientific validity of our software.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with software engineers, science leads, and product teams to identify, document and resolve methodological issues or ambiguities in our linguistic analysis.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on improving how we extract and analyse linguistic information.
  • Develop sample data and test cases to enable validation of natural language processing tools, including tokenizers, lemmatizers, part-of-speech taggers, constituency parsers and dependency parsers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in linguistics, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Arabic, and solid understanding of the linguistic structure of this language 
  • High level of attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • High proficiency in Arabic
  • Exposure to, or interest in learning about neuropsychological and cognitive testing, and changes in language as they relate to pathology such as dementia, aphasia, depression and other conditions.
  • Experience with, exposure to, or interest in learning about natural language processing and/or machine learning.
