Postdoctoral Fellow
Appointment period
twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment
Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “From segmental sequencing to pitch-variation skills: New insights for diagnosing childhood apraxia of speech”. He/She will be required to:
(a) conduct psycholinguistic/neurolinguistic and computational research related to the project;
(b) design and conduct behavioral, computational and neurocognitive experiments;
(c) analyze and interpret the collected data, including acoustic analysis of disordered speech;
(d) provide mentorship to undergraduate and postgraduate students on the project;
(e) draft journal articles and research proposals, build further credentials through publications and research dissemination; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Speech Therapy or related disciplines and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application;
(b) solid experience in conducting behavioural, computational or neuroimaging experiments;
(c) experience of working with individuals with speech and/or language disorders;
(d) good computer literacy including SPSS, R, and programming skills; and
(e) good teamwork, interpersonal and organizational skills.
