Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for improving core ASR accuracy across 40+ languages for human-to-human and virtual assistant products
  • Conduct experiments, validate, and release production-quality language models and all-neural ASR models for automatic speech recognition
  • Analyze product usage data to identify areas of product and model improvement
  • Implement new algorithms, recipes, and prototypes, utilizing Python and standard deep learning toolkits (TensorFlow, Fairseq, or similar)
  • Conduct experiments efficiently on a large, distributed research grid
  • Work directly with multiple internal and external teams to understand their business needs and directly address or advocate for necessary technology improvements
  • Discuss and present internal and external research within the research team

Knowledge, skills and

Education: Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in computer science, computational linguistics, deep learning, or a related field

Minimum years of work experience: 10 years

Required skills:

  • 10+ years experience in speech technology, statistical machine translation, or natural language processing
  • 7+ years industry experience with large vocabulary speech recognition
  • Excellent programming skills (Python) with knowledge of data structures and algorithms
  • Significant experience using Unix/Linux and shell scripting in a distributed computing environment
  • Significant experience in large text processing (billions of words), normalization, formatting, and related technology
  • Solid written and oral English communication skills

 

Preferred skills:

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, statistical modeling, deep learning, numerical optimization, data mining, algorithm design, software engineering, computational linguistics
  • Expertise with deep learning toolkits, such as TensorFlow or Fairseq
  • Author of multiple patents and/or external publications
  • Spoken and/or written proficiency in other (non-English) languages
