Job Description

As a member of one of our Technology teams, you will contribute to building solutions that use natural language processing, cognitive computing, and artificial intelligence applications or the frameworks and infrastructure that support them.

Position Overview:

As a Sr Software Engineer on the AI Software team, you will help advance a robust software platform for speech and natural language processing. The Curo Spoken Language Understanding system is a highly scalable and customizable engine that processes millions of utterances per day.

You will join a small, highly collaborative team, with opportunities to contribute to all aspects of the system, and the products and services built around it: the real-time, event-driven engine; low-latency speech recognition and natural language processing; offline machine learning tools and data pipelines; protocol stacks and APIs for integration into customer environments; testing frameworks; logging and analytics for tracking and improving performance. You will get involved in identify and design solutions for new use cases, and, at times, work directly with customers to solve real business problems with speech understanding technology.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to participate in implementing machine learning algorithms and concepts in an elegant engine architecture, and apply them to important business problems.

You will be expected to implement complex functionality, with minimal impact on latency and compute resources, in C++ and Python, in code that is easy to understand and revise.

The ideal candidate will have at least some experience with telecom infrastructure and VoIP – in particular with call center integration, real-time audio processing, and/or communication protocols – combined with the interest, skills and drive to learn new technologies and apply them in the most challenging situations.

  • Software design and development, in Python, C++, on Linux, in an agile framework.

  • Follow production software through test, deployment, performance measurements, and customer feedback.

  • Identify, specify an prototype new functionality, and generally devise innovative solutions to customer problems and opportunities, in collaboration with the extended Interaction research and development organization

  • Experience with real-time systems, event-driven systems.

  • Experience implementing complex algorithms for large scale commercial use: most valuably, with spoken language understand technologies; more generally in areas such as neural networks, statistical analysis on large data sets, graph optimization, …)

  • Highly desirable: Experience with communication & networking protocols; audio processing.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Works effectively in a team and as a self-directed individual contributor.

  • Curious about how things work, energized by technical challenge.
