The Role
As Team Lead in our modelling team, you will drive the technical direction of your team’s deliverables and coach your team members to fuel their professional growth.
You’ll help us in the development and productionisation of our latest machine learning innovations. Your technical work will involve design, experimentation, and optimisation of machine learning systems in the field of speech recognition and associated products as well as progressing along a management track to develop fellow engineers in their progression.
What you'll be doing:
- Building on proof of concept innovations from our research team to fit customer requirements
- Making machine learning innovations of your own to answer customer needs
- Integrating both of the above into our product lines
- Playing a critical role in setting your team’s technical direction
- Driving the long-term direction of our products with the architect’s support.
- Reviewing your team’s code
- Providing constructive feedback into our products’ design
- Taking part in high level planning and team resourcing
- Striving to strike the right balance between producing output and allocating time to long-term high-impact projects
- Being passionate about the efficiency of the process followed by your team
- Promoting your team’s work across the organization including non-technical teams
- Building a high performing team
- Promoting team cohesiveness, a positive culture and good team spirit

Who we are looking for:
- You have existing experience leading and managing a team, delivering complex projects successfully
- You will be naturally curious and continually striving to have impact

- You’ll be an excellent communicator collaborating with ease with teams across the company
- You’ll have previous technical leadership experience working on machine learning components
- You’ll have experience working with standard speech or machine learning toolkits, such as Kaldi (ideally) and Pytorch
- You’ll have solid Python, C++ and Shell skills
- You obsess over keeping things simple
